Background

Rhenus, a major logistics player (39,000 employees), wanted to reduce energy consumption and improve the carbon impact of its warehouses located in Gretz-Armainvilliers, 40 km from Paris.

The German group’s site was then equipped with old, costly and faulty gas boilers.

Accenta’s tailored solutions

The feasibility study carried out within the buildings demonstrated the relevance of installing the smart control solution.

The work was carried out without any interruption to operations:

 Planning of requirements

→ Choice of temperature set points and occupancy time slots for each functional zone

 Installation and works

  • Replacement of the gas boilers and refurbishment of the unit heaters
  • Creation of a class B BMS with the installation of 19 wireless sensors and 12 wired sensors

 Implementation of installation control

  • Graphical and functional configuration of the software
  • Client training on the use of the tools, adapted to the client’s profile and needs
  • Roll-out of hypervision to all stakeholders

Benefits for the client

A smart BMS that adapts boiler operating times to the building’s needs delivers significant savings; over 2023:

  •  557 MWh consumed, meaning energy bills 46% lower than the baseline situation
  •  116 tonnes of CO₂, meaning 46% less carbon released into the atmosphere

Thanks to its new automated system, Rhenus is also compliant with the BACS and Tertiary Decrees, while benefiting from the BMS’s smart functions, as confirmed by Cédric Paillard, Site Director.
